klc Representative Council meeting | april 2024

The KLC held its first Representative Council meeting for 2024 on Yawuru Country in Broome, bringing together 31 members from around the Kimberley and others who joined online to discuss regional issues and provide guidance on what matters to Kimberley Aboriginal people.

Important topics discussed during the meeting included the protection of Aboriginal heritage, the protection of the Martuwarra Fitzroy River, remote health, youth justice, economic development opportunities for the region, national policy reform and the upcoming changes to laws that will affect Aboriginal people.

Thank you to all of our Representative Council members for making the journey and providing such valuable guidance and perspectives on these important regional issues.
