Claim history:
The Kurungal claim covers about 1200 square kilometers of the Christmas Creek pastoral lease. An application claim was registered with the National Native Title Tribunal in 1997.
A meeting was held with neighbouring claims in May 2008 to identify the cultural boundaries of the Kurungal claim and to discuss how it is likely to be identified. The KLC is conducting further anthropological assessments and is working with Traditional Owners to progress this claim forward.
