Uunguu Ranger Trip 2010

The Uunguu Rangers ventured out on their sea-country together with staff from KLC and WWF on a trip to Admirality Gulf.

Sylvester, Raphael, Neil, Desmond, Dorothy and their Coordinator Robert were looking out for marine debris from Illegal Foreign Fishing Vessels as part of their AQIS fee-for-service contract.

In the past, Indonesian Vessels have been destroyed along the patrolled coastline of Admirality Gulf and parts of timber are now washed up on the beaches.

Apart from their AQIS work, the Rangers were surveying and assessing Rock-Art Sites, surveying turtle nesting beaches, looking for Snubfin Dolphins and keeping an eye out for Ghost-Nets. The trip was a success and after five days everyone arrived safe in Kalumburu with a lot of adventures to share with family and friends.
